Sunweave

A permanent outdoor installation where a safety requirement became a pattern. Rope and timber follow the truss of three steel gangways and catch the light from the handrail when it gets dark.

Festival Mode

A modular installation developed as a product for festivals. Sixteen modules scale to the space, and are designed to be transported, assembled on site, taken down and used again. Built at full scale for NEON and Trondheim Rocks.

How we work

We start with the problem and what is already there: the site, the rules and the people who use it. At Ramsalt, that meant a safety requirement and a steel truss we could not drill into.

Form, materials, light and construction are worked out together, down to each part. At Ramsalt, the gangways had many different triangles, each calculated so that no gap between ropes was wider than 10 cm.

We build and test the critical parts at full scale, from joints and fastenings to assembly, before anything goes on site.

We build and install it ourselves, without damaging what is already there. At Ramsalt, a hidden wedge tightens a whole fan of rope in one move.
